Then Peter said to them:

'Repent and let everyone of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Surrender prayer

WHEN you come before the LORD, come with humility and realise that you have failed and messed up your life. You have sinned, hurt others, made foolish and immature decisions, discounted those whom you should have listened to, ie. your elders. As a result, you ended here in this state, in the present condition. Therefore, humbly come before the LORD, give your life to Him unconditionally.

There are 2 parts to this prayer:

Part 1 | The Full Surrender Prayer

Lord Jesus,

I have sinned, and sinned, and sinned. I am not worthy of You but I beg your forgiveness. I repent of the selfish and arrogant life I have led. Forgive me. Wash me clean with Your Blood; deliver me from the evil within. I want to be born again.... fresh, new, and in Your Image. I give You my life, unconditionally. Receive me, lead me, save me.

Follow by saying the 'Our Father':

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.

AMEN.

Part 2 | Staying fully surrender for the entire life

Eternal Father,

In the name of Jesus, I continue to place my body, my soul, my spirit, and my entire life in Your hands. I choose to stay fully surrendered to You all the days of my life and ask that you continue to keep me in Your perfect will for my life.

Thank you Father.
Thank you Jesus.”

After you have completed saying this prayer, have full confidence and expect the LORD to make an immediate adjustments to your character.

Surrendering is a process

This act of surrendering is a process. Just like repentance - the turning away from our wicked ways - where we repent not just once, but everyday and when we come before the LORD in prayer. We move from glory to glory. It is a process where we invite the Holy Spirit into our life to reveal to us areas of strongholds and darkness within - all hidden sins -whether we are aware of them or not; wrongdoings that displease the LORD.

Likewise, surrendering is not a one-time thing as James Goll points out in his book 'The Discerner'. He writes, "You willingly surrender yourself more and more. You may think you have surrendered your whole being to God's Spirit, but there is layer upon layer upon layer of freedom and activation. We serve an infinite God, you know! This is what it means to be a temple of His Holy Spirit."

   - James Goll | pg 24,  'The Discerner',

'The Discerner' is a well-written book which we strongly encourage you to read. You can download it here.
